About My Drone Photography Journey
My Story Behind the Lens
Ted Beiler
Ted Beiler is the son of Dr. and Mrs. T.W. Beiler and is a lifelong DeLand resident. His parents were avid photographers, so much so that they designed a darkroom into their custom-built home in 1965, where Ted and his dad spent many weekend nights processing film from their family summer trips around North America.
Fast-forward 40 years or so, and Ted started digitizing the slides from those trips. He remembered how much they enjoyed the views from any elevated point around the continent. He wished there were a way to get those elevated views of the DeLand area. Around 2016, a Canadian cell phone company shot a commercial on W Indiana Ave, where Ted’s shop, DeLand Cyclery, now the home of Artworks, was located at the time. The film crew used a DJI Phantom camera drone as part of the camera equipment. Ted was hooked.
He now flies around DeLand regularly, capturing events, landmarks, sunrises, and sunsets, along with providing aerial photography for local realtors and media through his business, Pigeons View Aerial Photography.
